Before, simply enter the YouTube URL in a basic text editor of WordPress, and the video will appear.
But that no longer works (as of this writing), though.
Instead, use a shortcode (something that appears in between square brackets such as [ and ]).
IMPORTANT: This assumes you’ve installed the WP Shortcode Plugin.
Here’s the basic syntax:
youtube id=”EoaWBG0GCtU” position=”left”
There should be a [ at the very left, and a ] at the very right.
Here’s the share-URL of a sample YouTube video:
The YouTube video ID is: EoaWBG0GCtU
So the shortcode syntax will be:
[youtube id=”EoaWBG0GCtU” position=”left”]
And this is what the above shortcode will look like once WordPress correctly interprets the shortcode:
